Because everyone deserves some kinky and unadulterated fun.
T
he best part of a child-free vacation is all the things you can do without interruption. We’re talking sleeping-in, taking up a new hobby, finishing up that podcast episode that you restarted about 15 times, day drinking by the pool, late-night frolocking, and yes, sex. And, hopefully, lots of it.
But, if you’re really looking for a spicy vacation where you can take intimacy outside the confines of your room and explore a bit more freely, a sex resort or cruise might be what you’re looking for. Whether you’re new to this kind of travel, a gay couple, swingers, polyamorous, solo, have a very specific kink to explore, or just curious, there’s definitely a resort (or cruise) that will make you feel at ease. This sense of openness can inspire curiosity and encourage potential travelers to consider trying something new.
Does ‘Everybody Welcome’ Really Mean Everybody?
Admittedly, hearing about these kinds of destinations and vacations years ago was too much to fathom. I thought there were places for people with no sexual discipline who just wanted to swap partners and wanted to do all sorts of wild things. That’s not entirely true.
Because I consider myself an adventurous person who’s willing to try almost anything at least once (like polar plunging in the Baltic Sea, even though I can’t swim, or eating silkworms in South Korea), I began to research resorts, cruises, and forums ad nauseam. The idea of booking a vacation at a sex resort or booking a sex cruise became increasingly intriguing.

There was just one problem. As I looked at the websites of several popular resorts, I noticed a common theme: plus-size guests are not included in their marketing. The images are often erotic, suggestive, or flirty captures of straight-sized couples with perky breasts and washboard abs. For any plus-size travelers looking to explore these vacation options, the lack of representation can leave them feeling overlooked or excluded.
Despite the lack of imagery, the repeated language made it clear that these spaces are indeed welcoming to all kinds of guests, encouraging visitors to be open-minded. The same sentiment was shared when I called or used the chat on the websites to ask about plus-size travelers checking into a suite or cabin. Every team member I spoke to reassured me that guests of all sizes can enjoy their stay. In a conversation with Temptation Cancun Resort, the receptionist shared that even the furniture throughout the property was thoughtfully curated to ensure accessibility and comfort for all guests.
While it does not expressly list size, Hedo II in Negril has an anti-discrimination policy on its site that reads: “Hedonism II does not discriminate based upon race, nationality, gender, marital status, or sexual orientation.” This reassurance can help potential travelers feel more comfortable and confident about exploring these options.
Although I was still a bit nervous about pulling the trigger and booking a vacation like this, the anti-discrimination and strict no-photo policies certainly put my mind at ease. It also helped to read positive and encouraging reviews from people on Reddit threads. I even came across numerous threads from straight-sized vacationers who encouraged larger guests to stop overthinking it and just enjoy their trip.
What to Expect at Sex Resorts And Cruises
Right off the bat, let’s dispel the myth that these kinds of vacations are non-stop hook-ups. Of course, some properties and cruises may be outright wild. You’ll see people who are topless in common areas being flirty with their partner or other guests. However, some will be a little more laid-back because guests may choose to be more discreet and reserved. It may be a sex resort or cruise, but there are still rules to follow. For instance, you likely won’t be eating your steak dinner while people are openly doing it. The hook-ups happen in the playrooms!
There’s plenty of entertainment, ranging from gourmet dining, cabaret shows, live music, pool parties, and themed events to a chance to just relax with destinations like Temptation or Temptation Cruises. You can also attend a variety of workshops to explore the Kama Sutra, tantric sex, spa services, or other intimacy-related activities to tap into your sexuality, fantasies, and desires with your partner or yourself.
At other places like Monterey Stay and Play, it’s all about bondage play and BDSM. Although they’ll have everything you need (literally), I would encourage you to bring your own. For me, it’s one thing to stay in a room occupied by previous guests, but it’s a little unsettling to be using some of the same items.
Get Ready for Your Most Memorable Vacation
Ahead of your visit, you should have a realistic conversation with yourself and your partner. Are you going to connect? Do you want to learn a new technique? Is this an opportunity to explore a kink? Or, are you going with the hope and expectation of “playing” with other guests?
While these are truly welcoming spaces, it’s important to go with not only an open mind but an understanding that you just may not be everyone’s cup of tea. And that’s okay. This will help you manage your expectations and any emotions you may feel of being unwanted.
Any resort or cruise you decide to book will likely be controlled, private, and relaxed. You may check in with worries, but by check-out, you’ll be completely uninhibited. You’ll find yourself less obsessed with your body and more obsessed with the new level of confidence your vacation has unlocked.
Whatever your size or body shape, book the vacation. It’s a different level of liberation amid a society that constantly tries to impose shame on natural things like nudity and sexual desires.
