Seventeen years ago, we set out to define a space that didn’t have a name yet. We called it “carry”. And somewhere along the way, the world caught on.
Now carry culture is showing up in the mainstream. In the YouTube world, new review channels sprout up every week. There’s discussion and critique and opinion at every turn.
So we came to a moment where we took stock. What does the carry universe look like now? And how can we best serve it and our community? And, of course, how can we be unique, stay true to ourselves, and keep doing the things that brings us joy.
Honestly, we had to kinda be real with ourselves. Somewhere in the chase for revenue, Google rankings and clicks, we drifted from the thing that made this place worth building. We became too focused on product, and not focused enough on the stories that matter, and making sure we’re helping you all feel confident to get out there and live adventurous lives.
Because having great tools is only half of the equation. We want to provide the techniques and knowledge to accompany them, too.
So we’ve been asking ourselves some hard questions. And we’ve come up with some honest answers.
In this video, Andy, Mike, and Laurence sit down to talk openly about what Carryology 3.0 actually looks like — what we’re starting, what we’re stopping, and why.
Here’s the short version:
✅ More exploration, storytelling, and real-world techniques
✅ Deeper community — workshops, meetups, learning together
✅ Slower, more deliberate, special collaborations
✅ More diverse voices from every corner of the carry world
❌ No more affiliate links
❌ No more SEO-driven listicles
❌ No more Carry Awards
❌ No more high-frequency drops
❌ No more advertising

We know that’s a rare thing in publishing. We’re lucky enough to be in a position to try it — and we don’t take that lightly.
Carry has always been a path to something bigger. Better trips. Bigger adventures. A life lived with intention. That’s what we want to help build.
So, let’s talk about it. If you have questions, concerns, or genuine feedback — we’re open to hearing it. Send us an email here. Let’s start this new thing from here, together.
