From Canadian cities to international escapes, these destinations reflect where Canadians are shifting their travel plans, prioritizing accessibility, value, and experience.
As an American who has lived in Canada for the last 26 years, I’ve seen firsthand how Canadian travel habits shift based on accessibility, value, and experience. Now that the U.S. is not the first choice for a lot of tourists anymore, there has been an evident change in preference towards places that feel exotic but at the same time, approachable. Canadians are exploring what they have at home, along with some international locations as well.
These days, travel decisions for Canadians can vary from the small-town getaway in Eastern Canada to tropical getaways or even a city break in Europe. There are many different destinations for Canadians to explore. From a relaxing weekend getaway to a destination that allows you to unwind among nature, each has its own unique qualities in terms of scenery, cuisine, culture, and history, among other things.
