One building, The Lantern, is the work of Thomas Heatherwick, the London-based British designer who made the cauldron for London’s 2012 Olympics. He has two must-see projects in Chelsea: the award-winning Vessel at Hudson Yards, a honeycomb-style maze of interconnected stairs over 16 floors, and Little Island, a public pier on the Chelsea waterfront that forms a park within Hudson River Park and offers an extensive and free events programme.
