One of the best-selling video games of all time is getting its first-ever theme park land.
Minecraft World (eat your heart out, Tetris) will debut at the U.K.’s Chessington World of Adventures park south of London in 2027, according to Mojang Studios, which makes the game, and Merlin Entertainments, the London-based theme park company behind Legoland. Merlin is evidently determined to have the block-based theme park niche all to itself.
“Inspired by the game’s most iconic biomes, mobs, and items,” per a news release, the £50 million ($67 million) Minecraft World project will feature a new roller coaster as well as interactive experiences, “epic block-built playscapes,” and themed retail and dining.
Mojang and Merlin executives announced the attraction over the weekend at the annual Minecraft Live event full of news and product reveals.
Variety reports that officials took pains to point out that Minecraft World won’t just be a theme park version of 2025’s A Minecraft Movie and its upcoming sequel, but will attempt to replicate in some way how the game is played, immersing visitors in that universe rather than re-creating the film’s sets and props.
Descriptions of the attraction remain vague so far, though more details are bound to emerge as Minecraft World nears its expected opening in 2027.
The Chessington World of Adventures theme park, where Minecraft World will be based, can be reached directly by train from London’s Waterloo station.
