Some say everything is as it was — but schools , which were closed immediately after the strikes, have pulled forward their two-week March break , presumably as a precaution against further attacks. “It’s scary,” another expat tells me. “Yes, everything is normal and we are still working and going outdoors, but there’s this unspoken sense of fear. The streets are eerie, all the tourists have left. Yet the government is telling us we are safe.” He has “full trust” in the UAE’s air defence systems, he continues, “but this doesn’t change the reality of what’s happening”.
